55 and rainy???

Well, the forecast in Belgium was not good according to my iphone for this week, but I have arrived and am able to witness for myself that 55 and rainy is much different in Belgium than at home.

Familiar view from my window when I arrived. 55 and rainy?

Oh, by the way, it has not rained since I landed. There was rain on the ground when I landed, but that is about it. It was a rough flight, beginning at 6 a.m. by digging through my bike box to make it lighter (they won't even take it if it is over 70# and apparently my 22# mountain bike somehow now weighed 82#.) Ouch. I also had to, take 2 lbs. out of my other bag (50# limit) and purchasie a $40 ugly duffel bag from Continental to get it all there. Did I mention the extra baggage fees?

Checking out my new camera and catching up with Cass on the phone. Good use of time.

Oh well. Then I arrive and go to pick up my rental and it seems that although I left on the 14th, I arrived on the 15th. Somehow I made my rental reservation for the 14th? Oops. Silly american. I guess it happens a lot and I got my car!
Today I had my first real ride. I did 2 of the local mountain bike tours. Check it out:

I did the blue route first, then the red.

Blue route = 2.5 hours by bike???

Not quite. And that is from home to the sign included. Hmmmm?

Mountain biking in Belgium

Who says they don't have singletrack???
