Mini Tour of Flanders Ride, January 16, 2008

Being bad tourists, city sightseeing really isn't our thing. One desire (especially of Wendy's) was to ride part of the Tour of Flanders. Unfortunately we couldn't do the entire thing. 250 Km just doesn't fit into the training plan right now. Instead we just did the end of the tour, including the last two climbs, the famous MUUR/KAPELMUUR and BOSBERG. We followed the route into the town of Ninove. I am already looking forward to doing more some day. I can not imagine doing those climbs after having raced over 200km. Yikes. And these were not even the steepest climbs. Only 9.3% and 8.4%, respectively.

The approach to "The Wall" through the city of Geraardsbergen.

The cobbles...

The almost final approach.
Below the Kapelmuur.
On the route...
The poem about the flanders riders.
